Embark on an Urban Trail through Lyon, a city known for its conviviality and festive atmosphere. With 4 distances to choose from—8 km, 14 km, 24 km, and 37 km—runners of all levels can take on the challenge amidst the streets of Lyon. A 12 km hike is also available for those who prefer a more leisurely exploration. The city of Lyon stands as a trailblazer in Urban Trail events across Europe, with meticulous organization ensuring an unforgettable experience for the estimated 9,000 participants. 🥳

You’re bound to fall in love with Lyon, the former capital of the Gauls. On race day, finishers from all walks of life converge on Place Saint-Jean to kick off this historic trail, providing a unique tourist experience. Dive into Lyon’s rich history with ascents through the steep alleys of the old town. Be prepared for some elevation gain—no matter which route you choose! As the starting and finishing point is in Vieux Lyon, you’ll ascend the famous Fourvière Hill and marvel at the splendid Basilica. The climb to Croix Rousse Hill offers panoramic views of the cityscape—a treat for lovers of scenic vistas. 🔭

Your main challenge during the Lyon Urban Trail will be conquering Lyon’s staircases. Brace yourself for approximately 6,000 steps on the 37 km route! Lyon’s urban landscape unfolds as you traverse its roads, pavements, and bridges, skirting the Saône River—one of the city’s two waterways. This urban trail is filled with surprises and scenic routes past UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Traverse the LUGDUNUM – Musée et théâtres romains, iconic squares, and public parks like Bois de la Caille, offering a refreshing contrast to Lyon’s urban sprawl.
